Every year, since 2006, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation honours its Founder, on the 20th July (the date of his death), through a series of ceremonies that culminate in the award of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation Prize and the Gulbenkian Prizes. The first will be awarded to individuals and non-profit entities which have distinguished themselves internationally in the defence and establishment of human rights. While the Gulbenkian Prizes are awarded to individuals and non-profit entities which have distinguished themselves in Portugal in the areas of Cohesion, Knowledge and Sustainability.
I got to design the communication for this year's event. While Gulbenkian Descobrir was meant to be bold and fun, Prémios Gulbenkian asked for a more serious and formal feel. Having so many parts involved, the looks of it had to be very institutional, but still versatile and adaptable for all the mediums and formats that were necessary.
